The Dutch Flat Schoolhouse

The Dutch Flat Schoolhouse is a grand old building from the days of mining past. Its size alone attests to the town’s past importance; a large population needed a large school for its children, and this school could hold a passel of them. The two-story building contained several classrooms, and upstairs a stage where many families saw their kids perform in the annual Christmas plays and other school year programs. The school reportedly stands on the site of the first cabin built in Dutch Flat.
